She entered trench warfare (wearing cowboy boots into the MRI machine, no less), vowing, “Cancer needed a makeover and I was just the gal to do it!” She began writing and filming her journey, documenting her interactions with friends, doctors, alternative “quacks,” blind dates, and other women with cancer—sadly a growing group. CRAZY SEXY CANCER TIPS gathers the lessons learned and advice offered from Carr’s own journey, as well as the experiences of her cancer posse. Full-color photos accompany personal stories and candid revelations in this scrapbook of advice, warnings, and resources for the cancer patient. Chapters cover your changing social life, dating, sex, and appearance; essential health tips on how to boost your immune system; recipes; medical and holistic resources; and information on young survivor support groups. The resulting book is a warm, yet informative tool for any woman newly diagnosed with the disease and for those who love them.

Can American women be a model for thin bodies as the French women are?

Apparently yes!!! We have always heard about the problem Americans have with fat, their grassy food and enormous portion. But this is not what the book “The Manhattan Diet: Lose Weight While Living a Fabulous Life” says. Its first edition was written at the end of last March and its writer Eileen Daspin reveals why New Yorker women are thinner than other American women. Please find below some good tips from this book.
  • Walk, walk and walk…… this is a great way to keep your body in movement if you do not have time to go to a gym or to dedicate to exercise. You can incorporate it in your business day by just having a plain shoes in your pursue and keep the high heels to wear only when arriving to the office!!! I have already tried it with my MyCoach (see article in the “Health” section of this blog) and it really worked.
  • Cook at home
  • Avoid prepared sauces
  • Drink lots of water (unnecessary to say we have written several articles about the wide variety of benefits of drinking at least 02 liters of water per day)
  • Choose always whole meal instead of wheat flour as the first one give you the sensation of not being hungry for much more time
  • Do not eat till complete satisfaction. Finish your meal when you are “almost” totally satisfied
  • Never eat doing other activities, such as driving, walking or watching TV. You may eat more than you can realize if you are not paying attention to it
How have you liked it? You can find the all secrets by reading the book. If you do so, please do not forget to let us know your favorite tips!!!! Keep walking!!!!

Ultracavitation / Manual Lymphatic Drainage / Tripollar Radiofrequency

This associated treatment is just a great and affordable option to reduce body fat, cellulites and flaccidity.
I have proved and approved!!!! The combined treatment stimulates the rise of temperature in the subcutaneous tissue, changing the grease that is within the adiposities in liquid fat. This liquid fat is drained through the external pressure of the mechanical application and manual lymphatic drainage. Additional, the radio frequency causes the effect of collagen contraction and the acceleration of the metabolism of fibroblasts, which will give us a regenerated collagen and younger skin appearance. Final results are more curves, less fat, less flaccidity, less weight, less measures and improved satisfaction!
Normally it is recommended 06 sections and the therapist take your measures before and after each section as the results are immediately and you leave each section with less centimeters. As always, I could see much more results when associated these treatments together with gym and balanced diet. It is also mandatory you drink at least 02 liters of water every day during the treatment (that should be your target independently of this treatment).
What do you think? Is it for you??

Cryolipolysis – a great – non invasive – option to reduce body fat

Why not to dedicate some time (and money) to a supportive treatment to create curves and better shape to our body?
Cryolipolysis is one of the great  (and accessible) options available to most of us!!!
The method consists in the application of cold located in different areas of the body and then each one of these areas is subject to the shock waves that destroy the fatty adiposities. The criolipolysis is a successful alternative - non-invasive - to the liposuction since it combines the benefits of the breakdown of fat with the later pulverization caused by the shockwaves (up to a thousand times more powerful than the ultrasonic wave). In addition it covers in each section a much wider area. The reduction of the body perimeter and the decrease of the thickness of the fat tissue are seen immediately. Each session lasts about an hour and a half and usually ends up with a manual lymphatic drainage. Normally clinics recommend around 06 sessions for each treatment. My personal experience is that those treatments are much more powerful when associated with gym and diet. Would you like to give a try?

Easter time!!!! Eating chocolate without feel guilty!!! It is beneficial for your health and prevents several diseases

I have never met somebody that doesn’t like chocolate. Everybody has its own preferable way to eat, to prepare, some like the dark, other the bitten or the milk chocolate, but the reality is that it is in almost everybody wish list when talking about favorite food. Unfortunately, it is also the first one taken out when somebody go in a diet. But we have good news for you, who like us, love chocolate and are feeling guilty even before the week of Easter!!! It is almost impossible not to think about it when all stores, supermarkets and malls show a wide variety of eggs, rabbits and other Easter decoration. Good news are that chocolate, in reality, when eaten with moderation is extremely beneficial to your health, because as many vegetables, the cocoa also has antioxidants substances, which are preserved during the chocolate preparation process. Its biological active ingredients can control neural excitement, intestine irritation, and even though can prevent coagulum to be formed, can support the control of blood pressure and also prevents against Diabetes type 2, following what scientists and researchers say. And believe or not, studies show that people who eat dark chocolate twice a week can weigh less than those who don’t do that…….Unbelievable!!! Our Easter is safe!!!! But important to understand that it need to be eaten with moderation and need to be chosen the GOOD chocolate, what means those with more than 60% of cocoa in its ingredients.

Follow-up on Ear Acupuncture treatment – second week completed!!

The results on this second week were not as good as the in the first one. I lost one kilo during last week, after including skinned milk, yogurt (one or other each day), tomatoes and whole wheat bread. On the other hand I did not feel as much hunger as I did in the first one. I guess my stomach is smaller, because I feel ok with much less amount of food.

Positive highlights: I still lost weight and I am satisfied with 03 kg lost in 15 days. I feel ok with less amount of food, which I hope will help me to keep my weight when adding some other foods again to my routine, especially deserts. I was able to make my whole weekly gym plan, which included 06 days in a week running 15 kilometers in my elliptical and 20 minutes of vibration platform.

Negative highlights: my constipation is still a problem. The Aloe Vera laxative natural pills that the nutritionist recommended did help but I needed to take much more than the one night pill to see effects. I still feel tired, even though not that much as during first week

Overall evaluation: treatment really works even though the drastically reduction of carbohydrates is very controversial. Important to follow the steps and recommended doses to include them again in your routine to avoid gaining weight again. That was pretty much similar to the South Beach diet or the Dr.Atkins method, with the help of ear acupuncture to reduce stress/anxiety and to shift your focus from food to other activities.

Hope that helps those who want to start a plan!!!!! (and do not forget to talk to your doctor first)

Just a quick follow-up on my Ear Acupuncture treatment

Dear friends, as promised, please find below the results of my first week of treatment

After first week of treatment, I lost 2.0 kgs. Most of them were in the first four days of diet. I also went out of diet during Sunday lunch and ate an Applebee’s desert made of white chocolate and brownie (ops!!! But it was shared with my husband and it was only one MEAL of scape)

My opinion on the positives – high amount of weight was lost for just a week. The ear acupuncture works very well for me in terms of anxiety control also

My opinion on the negative – my constipation problem got worst. I felt more tired some days, especially at night.

Changes for the second week – it was allowed to add 1 glass of skinned milk at one of the snacks time and whole-wheat bread at breakfast

I think this week is going to be touch because although I am getting used to the diet, my desire for chocolate, pasta and rice is getting almost unbearable. Let’s see what happens this week!!!

Remember never to go on a diet before talking to your doctor!!!

FOLLOWERS SPACE - Ear acupuncture to lose weight and deal with stress / anxiety

Since I am over the 40’s I am always attentive to techniques to lose weight and keep my shape (among others….). Last year I was introduced very quickly to the ear acupuncture by my aunt, who is a doctor and also acupuncturist. She came to visit me abroad and mentioned the benefits to support losing weight and also to diminish stress. Since that time I kept this in mind and this week I went to a section of ear acupuncture. Find below what my loved aunt explained me at that time when she came to support me in a difficult moment of life.

“Although our ear is seem as a part of our body it is in reality a picture of the all body. Ear acupuncture is part of the oriental medicine and is based on the theory that every internal organ of a body has its reflex point in our ear (see picture below). This medicine can be used to several pathologies, including, but not limited to losing weight and recover from stress and anxiety. It works basically by stimulating the zones of the ear related to the identified pathology. This method is done by applying small (and hypoallergenic) patches to one ear of the patient. Adhered to the center of this patch you have a small magnetic point (or a small seeds in some cases) that need to be stimulated with massage during the period of the treatment. The patches are disposables and are exchanged every week or twice a month, usually”

As you can see, there is no pain as there are no needles (only the patches and massage). Promises are that in one month you feel much better and it is always a support of your treatment, which means that in the case of losing weight you need to follow a diet and the ear acupuncture will help it to be effective and will reinforce the effects of your treatment as well as help to diminish your anxiety while going through it. Ready to give a try? Below some pictures of my ear and the points they added patches to be stimulated (from what they told me they are stomach, intestine, mouth, amygdale and the ShenMen, which from what I understood is a measure regulator point, stimulated in almost all treatments, and the last point to be added the patch after massage)

Ahh!!! And just a stimulus for those who want to start a diet, I have already lost 1.9kg, following their instructions and a nutritional plan low In carbohydrates and rich in protein (IMPORTANT: talk with your doctor before start any diet method and be sure to comment to the nutritionist any disease such us diabetes, high cholesterol and thyroids problem). Good luck and let us know in case you give a try!!

Milanese without oil….. is that really possible?

YES, YES, YES!!!! Have you realized how tasteful some unhealthy foods are? This is the case of those Milaneses, that are just great with mashed potatos or even French fries. But how about cholesterol, fat, and healthy eating habits? Well I tell you that it is perfect possible for you to drastically decrease the quantity of oil you eat in your Milanese just diving them very quickly in a pan with hot water. Yes, that simple and fast. The process is very simple. In your cooker put your frying pan with the oil to fry the milaneses in one fire and another pan with boiled water (size of pan and quantity of water should be enough to dive the milaneses completely). Then just prepare your milaneses as usual, fry them as usual but after that instead of put them in absorbent paper to absorb the oil, first dive them very quickly in the boiled water and take them out to the absorbent paper. This fast and easy step you have added will save your body from eating lots of fat and your heart, cholesterol and body shape will thank you a lot!!! If you are not sure, just take a look into the water you have just used and you will see all the fat floating there would be in your body now. Try it and if you have questions just let us know and we can record a video on how to go through it step by step. And don’t forget that if you decide for French Fries as the side dish so you should prepare them in the Actifry we have published the article some time ago. Good cooking!!!!

Drink hot water instead of cold water during your meals

Japanese and Chinese people drink tea with their meals instead of cold drinks such as beer, juice and/or soft drinks, and this Oriental habit is being quickly spread around occidental countries as it is said to be helpful to have a better digestion. Cold drink after meals may solidify the fat you have just eaten in your food and slow down the digestion, accumulating fat in your body and sometimes causing intestinal disturbs. If you think you can’t drink hot beverages so you can try to replace cold ones by natural ones!
